Aspers Steaks Out New Menu
Aspers at The Gate

In a move that would make Gordon Ramsay proud, Aspers at The Gate has decided to focus on the food it does best, radically simplifying the menu in the popular Freya's Restaurant with a focus on fresh chargrill cuisine.

Freya's has been a fashionable eatery ever since it opened in 2005, helping Aspers to become the busiest UK casino outside London, but management felt that a new theme was needed to stay ahead of the game. The new, more focused menu includes dishes such as chargrilled Barramundi, a tasty and unusual fish that is hugely popular in Australia, as well as a range of tempting steaks.

"We believe that if something isn't broke, you shouldn't fix it, but we felt this was a great opportunity to go back to basics and give Freya's a fresh unique selling point," said Graham Hattam, Head of Hospitality at Aspers. "When we spoke to customers, it was clear that the chargrill menu was the part that really stood out, so we decided to focus on that area.

"We asked the chef to devise a choice of dishes that will entice new diners, without alienating our current loyal customers, and he's come up with some real winners, including vegetarian and fish options, as well as some top quality steaks from the finest producers."

When you consider that the Newgate Street casino served up more than 7,000 steaks during 2009, it's easy to see why chargrill was an obvious choice for the revamped menu. What won't change is the relaxed surroundings and attentive service that have always helped Freya's to stand out from the crowd.
