A North East casino is opening its doors to new gamers with the introduction of a new area where Roulette and Blackjack can be played for fun, with bets starting from just 50p.
It's Time to Play is a new area in Aspers at The Gate, aimed at breaking through some of the mystique that surrounds gaming and showing how games of chance can be gripping and tense, even if you're betting small amounts.
"The games in It's Time to Play are just like the rest of the casino, except the highest and lowest permitted bets are much smaller," said Richard Smith, General Manager of the casino in Newgate Street, Newcastle. "We're expecting a wide range of people to try it out, including some who are completely new to the gaming experience, and it's also available for private functions and events."
The initiative is an extension of Aspers unique philosophy, pioneered in Newcastle back in 2005, where gaming is just one of the activities on offer, with restaurants, bars, live entertainment and even a beauty salon also located within the venue. It's Time to Play will open up the gaming experience to new audiences, as well as appealing to many of the venue's 138,000 existing members.
The new area is open from 7pm to 1am every Friday and Saturday, with private bookings available at other times for Roulette Rookies or Blackjack Beginners. It's Time to Play is expected to prove popular for parties and celebrations, especially where organisers are looking for something a little bit different.

"People who have never visited a casino before can now enjoy a relaxing game of Blackjack with their friends," added Richard. "By combining their visit with other activities, such as a meal in Freya's Restaurant, customers will be able to enjoy a whole evening here for less than a tenner per head."
For those who get the buzz and want to play on the regular tables, Roulette and Blackjack can also be played 24 hours a day.
As with the rest of Aspers, there is no need to be a member to enjoy It's Time to Play. All visitors must be aged 18 or over and those who look under 21 will be asked for ID - www.gambleaware.co.uk.

- At every Aspers location, the company has set up the Community Action for Responsible Gaming (CARG) programme.
