Northampton Carnival Organising Fund Gets Boost
Aspers Northampton

A new major sponsor has been announced for this year’s Northampton Carnival which runs from 13th to 15th June.

Aspers, the new entertainment and casino complex opening in Commercial Street in June, has given a £1,000 donation to the carnival organising fund and have committed sponsoring the stages at Delapre Park and the Market Square.

This is fabulous news for the carnival,” said organiser Morcea Walker, “The event needs the support of local businesses to develop, and we are really pleased that Aspers has become involved in this way.”

Aspers General Manager Mark Darnell added: “The carnival is going to be a fantastic colourful event with amazing costumes, and having live music performances on the two stages will give an extra buzz.

The stage at Delapre Park will be used for the performances of bands, musical acts and carnival troupes on Carnival Saturday June 14. The organisers will also be having a stage at the Market Square on Friday June 13 for a youth talent showcase and on Sunday June 15 the focus will be on dance performances.

The theme of this year’s carnival is ‘Masque – Exploring Dual Identities’ and already record numbers of local floats and participants are forecasted to participate with the additional attraction of visiting carnival troupes from the Midlands, Bedford, Luton and London.

The main aim of the organisers is to produce an annual carnival uniting the communities and cultures of Northampton in a spectacular celebration.
