THE TRANSFORMATION of Swansea into a ‘unique waterfront city’ moved closer today with the completion of Aspers’ multi-million pound venue in the city centre.
Aspers at Salubrious Place, designed by award winning Australian architects Bates Smart, will include everything needed to give Aspers customers a fabulous time, bars, restaurants, a beauty salon and live entertainment.
The 46,000 square foot site at Salubrious Place, which opens to the public on 6th September, provides a variety of entertainment options with space for well over 1,500 people at any one time.
The new facility benefits from the latest technologies including hi-tech lighting to help create the right ambience and state-of-the-art energy-saving air conditioning to make it the most environmentally friendly Aspers yet.
Damian Aspinall, CEO of Aspers Group, said: “Working closely with our architects, Bates Smart, we’ve created a ‘new world of entertainment’ that will offer something for everyone - a relaxing beauty salon, great entertainment, quality food, and the chance to have a flutter.”
The casino will offer £4,000 slot machines, electronic roulettes, a 100 seat capacity Poker Room and 21 gaming tables offering classic casino favourites such as roulette, blackjack, three card poker and punto banco.
The specialist lighting and associated controls within the main gaming area allow for different scene settings to suit the mood, requirements and ambience of different areas and functions.
The main gaming area is provided with a fresh air supply and extractor ventilation system which is tailored to suit varying occupancy levels up to the maximum. Air is introduced at low level via disguised displacement ventilation diffusers located around the structural columns. CO2 and temperature sensors control the quantity of air delivered to the space by adjusting the speed of the fans and hence saving considerable amounts of energy at times of low demand. Extract air is taken from high level and all useful heat recovered prior to discharging at roof level.
A building management system (BMS) is provided which controls and monitors all of the mechanical and electrical systems within the complex; this also enables the Aspers Group to monitor plant, equipment and environmental conditions remotely from another location if required.
The Aspers casino forms major part of Swansea’s £30 million redevelopment of the Wind Street/Salubrious Place area of the city.
